Re: If i upgrade the turbo...
It depends what turbo you want to upgrade to. If you want to upgrade to the K04, then you would have to do a few other things as the sizes of intakes and outlets on the turbo are a little different. Most tuning companies offer a kit that has everything you need to upgrade the turbo. And yes, you will definately need different software.
Try APR or GIAC for the turbo upgrades. I even think neuspeed does a turbo upgrade kit. And I am sure there are others that do it too. |

Re: If i upgrade the turbo...
yeah..like previously mentioned, it all depends on what turbo you swap to.... if you get a 'kit'...it usually includes software..
people have fun ko3 software on a ko4 and it does 'work'...but obviously its not ideal.

Re: If i upgrade the turbo...
The K04 is a direct bolt on replacement for the K03. You definately need new software for it though. Otherwise the computer doesn't know to increase boost and add fuel. You also need a larger fuel pressure regulator and a high flow exhaust. It's also recommended to replace your divertor valve. There's the T-28 kit or the APR stage 3 kit for more ponies. The K04 is definately the most bang for your buck.

Re: If i upgrade the turbo...
Sounds like something to do with your intake sensor

Your stock software will adapt to whatever intake you use. The MAF measures air density along with the temp sensor it can adjust fuel and other engine functions. Check that you have everything hooked up right. Is there a heat shield? Most of the custom intakes don't do much but rob horsepower because they flow more hot air. It really takes an effective heat sheild to have a benefit.

Re: If i upgrade the turbo...
because it feels like im not gaining the correct horsepower... i have full 3 inch exhaust on the car now but we put the stock intake back on... can u guys some me some pics of your aftermarket intakes? and if i do upgrade my software wont that make everything run better and take my check engine light off since the o2 sensors are reading the same and getting confused?

Re: If i upgrade the turbo...
What motor do you have? If you have the 1.8t chip it. You'll get more out of the motor than with an exhaust. If you have the 2.8 then there's not much you can do other than a supercharger to add power.
A chip won't make your car run any better. If you have a cel and the car's not running right you better fix that before doing anything else. Why do you think the O2 sensors are triggering a cel? Vag it or have your dealer do it. |

Re: If i upgrade the turbo...
I agree with kayless, intakes really aren't very good on audi's because of the high heat. Most people don't do anything but put a k&n filter in. But even then, be really careful with oil empregnated filters because the oil can screw up the Mass Air-Flow sensor. Like Kayless said, chipping it is the best bang for your buck by far.
