Hi All,
1st time on the forum, and hopefully not the last. I'm interested in buying an '89 Silverado that runs strong, has just had the entire brake system replaced, new tires. BUT, it has major damange to the rear driver side panel. How can I find a replacement? In the past (1 year ago, and beyond), I've been able to find parts on-line from recyclers at a great deal. To much spam out there for me to sift through. Thoughts? |

Re: Should I Buy '89 Silverado? 110k
Im not sure about your parts you are looking for but I have an 89 C1500 200,000 miles. All original motor, tranny, etc. Bought for $250. Put a $125 driveshaft in last year when I bought it and still going strong 18,000 miles later.
I did have to replace the lower ball joint...it seems they are a pretty important part of the suspension. You never realize this until you drop one and let me tell ya from experience ... hold on for the ride. |

Re: Should I Buy '89 Silverado? 110k
If you are looking for a bedside or door or fender, we have Certifit here. Their parts are made in Mexico, Japan or some other place with cheap labor.
For the most part, their parts are pretty good. Usually they are made of lighter material, but you don't have to deal with rust! Always prefit parts that are made in other countries because once in a while you will get a panel that just doesn't fit. The previously mentioned panels are easy to replace on your '89, and they are very affordable. I'm sure there are places like Certifit in your area, look in the yellow pages of any major city and you should be able to find them. -slacker

I just bought an '89 from my best friend's mom. She bought it new when we were in high school and 15 years and 105,000 miles later it's mine. Damn good truck! Great shape, she's taken very good care of it.
