Purchasing 96-99 k2500 7.4 and warranties

As a general rule what do people think about buying a 96-99 4X4 7.4L Suburban with 99-125K miles on it? My inital response is to be very leary even if the car is very clean.

I see a number of people that still have them after 200K so what sorts of problems can I expect to face assuming normal adequate maintenance and non abusive use by the previous owners?

Does anyone have any personal experience with aftermarket warranties for these vehicles that really work. I see that many aren't available after 100k.

Are there any good ones that do allow cars over 100?

Usually the cars I see aren't eligible for the GM warranty.

I'm looking for major drive train components coverage not bumper to bumper although that would be nice as well.

Thanks Bob S.
