Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: 96 Suburban 2500 7.4 Hesitation

Fuel filter is located on the drivers side frame rail close to between the drivers door and the rear left door. The fittings are metric on both the lines and filter. SAE will work, but be careful. Fuel press reg i'm not sure about. My '98 manual says to take the upper intake plenum off for access. Doesn't show a picture. It's on the fuel rail back there someplace. Has a vacuum line on it. Hope this helps and welcome to the forum..............Steve

It may be in upper plenum. Book time over 2 hrs labor.
Look at top of engine and if you can see fuel rail on each side and injectors it should be on fuel rail. If you do not see the fuel rail and injectors it is inside upper plenum.

Re: 96 Suburban 2500 7.4 Hesitation

It seems to me that both responses are for MPI Suburbans. I believe your '96 454 is a TBI model. I do not know the location of the fuel filter but I am sure that it is different than the later MPI Vortec models!

ps, I doubt the filter is the cause of your hesitation. I have a '94 454 TBI and it still has the original fuel filter, where ever it is located.

That might be because the 96 7.4 2500 J engine is MPI.
If you fuel filter never has been changed on yours it is about time to have a look at it.
And they all put them in the same old place. Frame mounted under drivers seat area.
