Two problems

I have two minor problems with my 2.
the first is that when i run boost above about 6-7 psi, my enigine temp gauge drops, the harder i boost the more it drops, but it does not drop under 3 lines. Now my friends tell its really nothing to worry about and that when the turbo runs in the winter it gets like that. I am a little skeptical and was wondering if anyone has the same problem or knows what the problem is.
the second problem...er ,minor irritation is that mr2 flip lights tend to have too much drag due to their flat face, ive also heard that these lights generally will break under heavy drag... usually starting around 130+. I believe that this is true, since i do have a right head light out of mechanism from a one-night race on the highway, and i did hit about 130. So could someone tell me a good site to where i can find conversions for headlights on the car? Prefferably the flat 300zx style ones with projection bulbs.
Thanks

#1 The MR2s cooling system is a wonderful design. Since we have all that extra length of hose going from the front to the back (twice) it really aids in cooling. If you *happen* to be accelerating on a cold day and after your engine was hot enough to open the thermostat it would not be unusual to see your temp gauge go down.

My concern would be that your thermostat is bad if it is doing it all the time. Your thermostat may be stuck open. Does it see mto take excessively long to get your car warmed up to operating temperature?

#2 They are called flush mount. Troy makes/sells some here: www.trueleo.com
Any flushmount headlight may not be legal in your state (so you know).

thanx for the reply, actually i warm up very slow indeed and i will be checking if the thermostat in stuck open.
as for the flushmounts, yes those are the style i want, but know any place where i can get them with projection bulbs?instead of the square ones on the site? And i dont understand how they can be illegal. If they are can i find something similar that IS legal?

On a side note, i saw this MR2 on the recent ultimate street car challenge. I was rooting for it, too bad it blew a headgasket, it was doing considerably well.

Laws are different in various states.
From what I understand, altering the OEM light set up in anyway way is illegal in Pennsylvania (where I live).

That is Jim Griffith's car ... "The Beast".
Those lights have a lot of style in my opinion and I would love to have them. I am fairly certain they are one-offs he had made.

I have seen a set of trueleo's in person and I think they look pretty good, but I would prefer a more normal headlight (not the little projector bulbs).

If you find nice flushmounts, please let me know!
I could save 15 lbs per side if I got them

Well as i read, Jim Griffith sold his first set of head lights ( which i love). I'm trying to find a way to contact him and see if he would make one for me at a considerable price. However there are other options, ive seen a flush mount set on ebay. made with fiberglass and a steel bracket for about 100. You can check it out by searching on ebay, key word "mr2 flush mount headlight" you'll see it. Not too many on ebay. Once again in my opinion Jim griffith's lights are the cleanest i have ever seen and i will be his slave if i can own them.

i believe he specifically asks people not to do this on his site. he may be even less willing to talk about them if you disregard his wishes and ask him to build you some. you may want to just ask for as much insight as he can give you. people generally like to talk about their accomplishments.
