Two Problems / Two Bonnys

I have two Bonnevilles that are giving me problems...

The first is a 68. I have an intermittent electrical problem where the radio (aftermarket) won't turn off when the car is turned off. A (I believe) related problem is that sometimes the wipers will come on and slowly wipe when the car is also off. A third interesting 'feature' is that when the radio stays on, I can turn the wiper switch and it cuts it off.

I've taken apart the ignition switch and it appears fine.

The second problem is with an 88. For the last couple of years, both the passenger and drivers side windows would close very slowly. Going down they have no problem. Recently, the drivers side goes up to about 4 inches of closed and stops. If I force it past this point, the motor catches again with the same slow closing problem. If it's the motors can I use the ones for the back windows?

Any ideas? And by the way, I'm a new member to your forum and its great.

Thanks. -Andy.

On the 88, it sounds like the tape for the power window is stripped. Picture a ladder with some steps missing. I think you can get it at the local parts house, cut to length.

I tore the passenger side door apart today and see what you're talking about. I greased the window tracks for that one and it seems much better. Tomorrow I'll do the other. Thanks Ricksza -Andy.

I got the 88 fixed so if anyone needs help with a similar repair in the future, you can email me at [email protected]. I'm still looking for some help on where to start with the 68 Bonny. I'm also having problems with the blower on that car. Does anyone recommend replacing the entire wiring harness? And if so, suggestions on how to and best place for the harness? Thank you, Andy.
