Two Problems
Project 300zx 1985 non-turbo 2+2.
Problem 1: maxes out at about 2100 rpms and surges. Cleaned grounds and looked for bad connections. Occassionally works well, but not lately. Starts and idles great, with good fuel filter. Shop checked some sensor in the air intake line. Soneone thought the throttle position sensor might be bad. Any ideas? Problem 2: Headlines do funny things when switching from low to high beam. Looked for relay, but could not identify relay. Looks like it could be the steering collumn swith. Is this easily replaced? Thanks for any tips. Dick |

Re: Two Problems
if your car cannot rev past 2000 rpms than you probably need a new mass air flow sensor, or MAF electrical connector. But before you buy anything look under the hood and see if it is even connected properly

Re: Two Problems
We replaced the alternator and all the belts except the timing belt. I will double check the alternator belt however, thanks

yeah i think whoever you took it too was on the right track. probably in the air flow track. i dont know about z31 but z32's have a ACC valve which could also cause the problem along with the MAF sensor which RX speed mentioned. has it been raining alot in your area lately? i notice that after it rains my car starts to have idling problems and rev problems because of moisture messing with the MAF sensor circuit.

Re: Two Problems
it is probably have to do something with the air flow or fuel flow. most likely MAF i would guess.
