Scalemotor Sports 1/12 scale Porsche

Here is my in-progress post for my 12th scale Porsche. Other pics are in the post titled "Project Super Porsche, a closer look."

Here are some pics of what I have done with the engine to this point. A lot of work remains.

Here is a pic of the original Tamiya seat. As you can see in the picture, the back of the seat was smooth with no texture. The reference photos show a raw fiberglass shell with texture. I added this texture by raiding my wife's lingerie drawer. I found a suitable mesh fabric and applied it to the back of the seat with liquid cement.

Here is the completed seat (minus seat belts and brackets). I simulated the raw fiberglass by, first using a white primer, then a coat of Tamiya Clear yellow, and finally, a wash of Testors Leather.

Here are some shots of the nearly-completed front suspension.

I slightly weathered the chassis with pastels.

Finally, here is a shot with the body. There is still some body work left to be done before paint.

then a coat of Tamiya ear yellow, and finally, a wash of Testors Leather.

Aha! Clear Yellow! You had me worried there for a moment- that seemed a strange color for Tamiya to put out!

Super nice!
You are a very brave man to raid your wife's lingerie draw, what will she say when she finds out
Do you need to fix the pastels with a clear coat or are they durable enough on their own?

Re: Scalemotor Sports 1/12 scale Porsche

That's a thread I'll have to follow.

Very nice paint effects on the seats and chassis. You give a lot of attention to details and I like that.
And the engine, waw it looks like the real one.

Re: Scalemotor Sports 1/12 scale Porsche

Thanks for all the feedback. I do fix the pastels with a light coat of testors dullcoat. As for my wifes lingerie...I just cut off a small piece from a very strategic place.....

Good idea with the wife's lingerie. Heck, mine doesn't wear the stuff I bought her anyway so I guess it's simulated raw fiber on everything from now on.
