Arrow GST vs. Integra GS-R vs. Prelude Vtec

I know everyone here is probably biased, but...What do you all think about a GST (or GSX), Integra GS-R, and Prelude Vtec (97 up)?Which car is the most reliable daily driver?

Re: GST vs. Integra GS-R vs. Prelude Vtec

You CANNOT generalize reliability. You could get a gem or a piece of shit. a turbo eclipse will take to mods better than an N/A engine, and you will be able to stay out of N/A range with little cost. As in, non turbo engines will not make much more than 250hp

What the hell?!?

Prelude VTEC vs Integra GSR = Prelude.

On any instance.

There is a JDM Prelude h22a block that pumps about 220hp out. US versions do 200hp. Even the older 92-96 versions do 190hp. Preludes also have a nifty thing called Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS) that transfer power to the rear wheels like a RWD car.

The GSR is nothing.

As for reliability, I would say stock; either the Integra or Prelude. Honda is known for reliability. Modified is a different story. Modified cars require alot of maintenance, and if neglected, even an Accord will not be as reliable.

The GST has stronger internals then both cars; My Prelude has a high compression ratio already, and as such can't take heavy mods as readily. I would have to pretty much build the engine up again if I wanted to modify it any furthur than a turbo.

So there you go, GST --> Prelude --> Integra.

Done.

from my experience, gsr's will wax preludes up and down. i've never heard of 'ATTS' and i'm skeptical that it has a hidden AWD system i've never heard of, but you own one.. not me

All I'm wondering, logically, is.. *how*.

I also believe the GSR's b16 or whatever does 160~170hp?

Re: GST vs. Integra GS-R vs. Prelude Vtec

GSR motor is a b18, 170hp

so like i said it's my experience that it is faster, probably because it's lighter. Prelude I think has LSD up front (and i still doubt any rear drive) that was said to 'handle like a RWD car'

DSM all the way. it doesn't matter after that... especially after 1500 bucks. i think 95gsxracer put in like 1800 and broke into 12's...

just to clarify a few things= atts on the lude is only effective when turning. do a search on it there is a ton of info. on it..it is not an all wheel drive systm at all and the car remains a front wheels drive car at all times. the gsx is faster than any h22 lude in the 1/4 mile, stock or close to stock cars, the gsr is slightly faster than the lude, but still the gsx has the advantage. keep in mind that the honda/acura's have longer legs, gear ratios, than the mits. and will catch you. if you are looking at a street race longer than a 1/4 mile and are close to stock beware! my buddies 97 lude is slower in the 1/4 mile than my gsx, but in a 5 mile race he would have me. just my 2cents!

lol 5 mile race.. i dunno where you race...lol. Ya its always true that some cars would do better past 100mph . The GSR might beat a GSX after about 120mph. Yet races like those just dont exist. too dangerous. and no one has a straight track like that.

I didn't notice the +97 thing, but...

2001 Integra GSR: 170bhp @5900rpm, 166lb-ft @1950rpm, Curb Weight = 2667 lbs.
1993 Prelude VTEC: 190bhp @6800rpm, 158lb-ft @5500rpm, Curb weight = 2865 lbs.

What does this mean? The GSR will be in the lead for about 100 feet, and then the Prelude takes over. And ATTS is designed to fight against FWD understeer.

I don't think a GSR could beat a turbo Eclipse after 100mph.

In high speeds, horsepower is pretty much all that matters, and whoever has higher horsepower will come out the winner. It's why Hondas are such pussies on the highway, low horsepower. My friend has a Civic EX, and watching him climb past 100 was pitiful at best.

I don't know if the AWD gearing will affect anything, but I know for certain a GST will give either car a run for its money.

Wink

between the lude and the gsr..i can not say ,since i never raced one when i had my lude, which would win gsr or lude?, but i know that the gsx , assuming that all cars are stock or close to it, will beat them both in the 1/4 due to the awd. the eclipse is a porker compared to the other 2 but the assistance of the awd gives you such a lead off the line that it takes the lude awhile to catch up. i have atleast a car length on the lude off the line. i have video to prove it too...also some footage of me beating a supercharged miata. lots of fun!

The numbers for the GSR is 128ft-lbs of torque.

Re: GST vs. Integra GS-R vs. Prelude Vtec

You can't make a 'the ___ will win' based on numbers. I doubt many people have the greatest concept of racing dynamics, and probably not even a firm enough grasp on horsepower vs torque to know what will happen.
