Train VS Jeep

Ok this is the alleged story: posted on the forum were i've got this:

http://www.quadscentral.com/videos/trainhitsjeep.WMV

Quote:
I was waiting to meet a buddy at wash 10. and this monster of a jeep goes up the hill and crosses the tracks. A stock jeep follows and almost doesn't make it. THEN everyone can clearly see that a train is coming so the guy in the stock jeep wants to get back on the other side of the tracks before it gets here..... STUPID. Not to mention that he has his whole family in the jeep with him and his daughter riding on the front bumper seat belted to it. Of course he doesn't make it over and then gets stuck. While the guy is trying to get the jeep unstuck other guys try to get the little girl off the bumper. If you pause the video at the beginning you can see this, if you pause it at the end you can see the little girl still belted to the front bumper "
If its true its one of the most disturbing things i've seen. Does anyone have any info about this?

I really hope this is some sort of hoax. Otherwise its very disturbing

I'm searching now google to see if i can find some new info.

Well, as far as the crash noise goes, I wouldn't really expect to hear one with a big fat train going by blowing it's horn and whatnot... I imagine that the low-quality microphone on the camera was saturated with noise and couldn't quite pick up everything above the roar of the engines, the rush of air from the train, and the sound of the wheels on the tracks.

I gotta say though, I don't care what you're doing and where, but you're a fucking retard if you strap a kid (or any other person) to your bumper. That's just gross negligence... fucking stupid.

But if you're dumb enough to do that, then you're probably dumb enough to try and mess around with train-tracks when there's one coming.

Don't feel sorry for the parents, but sure feel sorry for the kid on the bumper. Never had a chance with idiots like that for parents.

Re: Train VS Jeep

If the train hit that jeep, the jeep would have FAR more substantial damage. When the train passes the car, you would most likely see debris coming off the right side of the tracks as well, unless the jeep was just sitting on the very edge, wherein the front of that jeep would be severaly damage. As for the kid, it does indeed look like a doll. If it was a kid straped to the front bumper, I don't believe she would still be intact, or anywhere close to the train.

The most disturbing thing I ever saw was a Metra video where a business woman is walking across a track and gets smacked by a train going 70 mph. You see pieces flying at the camera.

Re: Re: Train VS Jeep

I couldn't see the video, but if the train was moving at more than 15mph, the vehicle would have pretty much been torn in half, or completely open, it'd be pretty destroyed. Even a low speed collision (say 10mph or so) could easily total most vehicles. (I've seen the results of a couple train/car collisions first hand)
Secondly, who would sit on a front bumper? That's easily one of the most stupid things I've ever heard.

I agree.

I've seen that Metra video and I've seen a video where a car gets hit by a train. There just wasn't enough damage to the Jeep. If the train had indeed hit it, the bumper wouldn't even still be there. The girl would have been in pieces. Not to mention the child looks like a doll.

Also, I agree with ci5ic completely, well said.

It looks the same way to me. Also, if you have ever seen a train hit a car, even if it just clips it, the car is completey ripped apart. That jeep didn't have nearly enough damage to have had been hit by a train. And another thing, if that was real, and that was a real kid, the way that the jeep was positioned on the tracks and the way that the kid was strapped to the bumber, would have resulted in the kid being completely torn apart, along with the rest of the jeep. I know that is nasty or what not, but generally, when someone is hit by a train, body parts are separated.

I just hope that that video is not real, and for whoever thought that this would make a good hoax, they are severely mistaken.

Re: Train VS Jeep

Is it some weird magnetic force in train tracks that automatically make people act stupid around them or something? Jeezus christ.. people are dumb.

Personally, I think the video is undoctored... I think that the jeep was in fact hit by the train, my only doubt is about the child strapped to the front. It sure looks like a doll, but a dead kid might look like a doll... I believe that if it really was a kid, one of the parents would be by the child.

In the beginning of the video when the jeep is stuck, you can see that just the front of the jeep is over the tracks, and so I think the train just barely clipped it (which would've been plenty to send it flying), but may not have really ripped into it.

Seems like extraordinary lengths to go for the sake of a hoax.
