Re: Are there BOV for superchargers??
Not to my knowledge, although I have been known to be wrong before. I think that turbos need BOVs because of the amount of pressure they build up as opposed to the supercharger.

a centrifugal type super charger ( vortech ) style will need a blow off valve since they behaive very much like turbo chargers do. however if its the roots type ( the ones found on hte new mustang cobras.) those do not need one.

Re: Are there BOV for superchargers??
I beleive that they have "bypass valves" and I know people who make 20+ lbs of boost on superchargers, so it has nothing to do with pressure. I think it just vents differently as apposed to being pushed back the opposite way like turbo's.

go to jacksonracing.com.
you'll see their info on bypass valves, which is like a BOV for a supercharger. they do need and have them |

The bypass vlave recirculates boost back into the intake before the mass air flow sensor. That way the boost is right there waiting to go when the butterfly opens back up. Since it doesnt release the boost pressure back into the atmosphere, theres not realy a typical BOV PSSHHH.

Re: Are there BOV for superchargers??
but, you can do it.
you can easily vent the bypass to the atmosphere, just make sure you've got a filter on it... |

Re: Are there BOV for superchargers??
I dont have a filter on by BOV, and its vented into the atmosphere. I dont think that matters. Mine was rerouted stock, after the MAF sensor. The computer compensates for the unmetered air. Once the BOV is vented it runs rich when that air is not in there causing stalling, backfiring, and flame throwing on my car. The stalling was fixed with the S-AFC.

Re: Are there BOV for superchargers??
i'm talking about on a bypass valve, as air is sucked in through the bypass, so you want it filtered.
it doesn't just go one way, it goes both, as opposed to a BOV, which only vents. |

Re: Are there BOV for superchargers??
yup bypass valves for the newer cars that are equipped with them. The centrif chargers like Tat was talking about yes.
the bypass valve will open with a certain amount of force on the pedal, soon as you stomp it, it activates and you have your boost. I adjusted mine to come on with the slightest touch in the pedal
