ODB II code info, P1136 code is manufaturer specific
Ive got a 1999 Passat and the check engine light has come on. When i scan it with my scanner it comes up with code P1136 but wont tell me what the problem is specificly. It says its a manufaturer specific code which means i gotta take it in the dealer and pay them 80 bucks to tell me whats wrong. Does anyone have info or can tell me where to find this info?? Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Re: ODB II code info, P1136 code is manufaturer specific
It's a code that the long term fuel ratio is too rich. Basically it's that your air/fuel mixture is so rich that the oxygen sensor is on lean limit. I didn't see which engine you have, but to start I'd check for air intake leaks, problems with the exhaust system & especially if you have a 1.8 turbo check the vacuum lines at the backside of the valve cover around the intake plenum.

problem ended up being.....
Thanks for the tip. I have the 1.8 turbo 4 cyl. and i checked for vacuum leaks and found none. I was forced to take it to a shop and they found it to be a bad connector on the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. They checked the O2 sensors and they were ok. New plugs and a repaired connector and so far so good. Hope this might help someone else.
