i did the diagn. code test again. and it showed me the number 32. which is EGR, exhaust gas recirculation circuit... anyone know what that would mean? and how or what i can do to correct it? my car is a 91, 3.1 with 128K mi on it. exempt from emissions due to less than 5K mi a yr on it

Re: got the code info

If that is the only EGR fault it can indicate (I know the later ones can sense positioning problems to a point) then the EGR might not be opening. If it was sticking open, you'd have issues with poor idle, possibly stalling on throttle drop (like coming off the highway, or dropping the throttle abruptly after acceleration)

I know the EGR was a common source of problems on the older 2.8's and 3.1's, so it wouldn't suprise me if it was going bad.

Re: got the code info

thats exactly what my car is doing.. i cant believe it!!!! it idles horribly, like shakes and it has stalled a few times. at one point the RPM needle dropped to 0 while i was at a lite but car was still running. then needle went up when i accelerated to go..

now i have to find out where this circuit is and replace it.
