Question about the speaker wires in my Civic...

I'd really be appreciative of anyone that can tell me, for the rear speakers on a 6th gen Civic coupe, which wires for both left, and right side REAR speakers, which wire is the positive lead, and which is the negative lead? Thanks.

look at where they lead to on the speaker. I think it will be labeled on the speaker.

I wish it was that simple, but the OEM rear speakers don't have that info on them. Not even a marking to indicate which is pos, or neg...

Well what colors do you have for the wires? Usually the DARKER colored wire would be the negative... e.g.

You have a YELLOW and a DARK BROWN running the the speaker ~ the brown would be the negative. Or, if they are both the same color, look for a STRIPE down the wire. Two yellow, but one has a black or white line down it... that is going to be your negative

get a AA battery. connect the speaker wire from the speaker to the battery and then when you make contact, the cone should move a little bit in or out. if you connect the wires correctly to the battery, the speaker should move out. you will then know which color speaker is + and -

Here's the data from a 98 Civic. As far as I know, your 2000 should be the same.

Right Rear Spkr(+) Red w/Yellow Stripe
Left Rear Spkr (+) Blue w/Yellow Stripe
Right Rear Spkr (-) Brown w/White Stripe
Left Rear Spkr (-) Gray w/White Stripe

Hope that helps. If not, the other way is to hook up a battery (9v will work) to the speaker terminals. If the speaker makes a pop (the cone should move OUT, I believe) then you have it right. If it doesn't make a sound (I'm pretty sure it will cave in here) then you have it backwards.
