speaker distortion

My right front speaker located in the door of a 1991 prelude distorts, especially with alot of bass. If i press on the woofer cone with my finger lightly, the distortion stops. The left speaker does not exhibit such problems.

Simple andswer. The speaker is blown. Time to get a new pair for the fr Basically it sounds lthe surround material that connects the actual cone to the metal basket has lost it's support abilities or is just plain shot.

Why would the right be blown but not the left? Can this be fixed?

Re: speaker distortion

i don't think this can be fixed...the speakers usually don't blow at the same time, usually one goes then shortly after the other goes.

Not all speakers per pair are created or react exactly equally. Sometimes song will have more dominant things in one channel than the other. You can have the speaker rebuilt (basically get it fixed) but the price you'd pay to have that done would be about the same if not MORE than what the cost of a new set would be. I've looked into this myself for speakers before. If you have like a $500 pair of speakers in your door it would be worth it, but if they are stock or cost $150 or less when you bought them, just get a new pair plain and simple.
