Sequoia LIFTGATE RELEASE ASSEMBLY problem

Sequoia LIFTGATE RELEASE ASSEMBLY problem: I have had problems with the liftgate release assembly seizing, or the lever that opens the liftgate (lever just above the rear licence plate) getting stuck or breaking, or the liftgate failing to close because the lock mechanism was seized. If you have had these problems as well, please insist that your dealer reports this to Toyota. This could result in a special extended warranty for this problem (same as the special extended warranty on the Sequoia Keyless ENtry Remote Control Module), or a potential re-call to replace the liftgate assembly with a properly desiged one if sufficient number of people report the problem. I have had 3 problems in the past 9 months with the liftgate lock release assembly.

Re: Sequoia LIFTGATE RELEASE ASSEMBLY problem

I just had the same Sequoia LIFTGATE RELEASE ASSEMBLY problem on an 02 Sequoia. The door is stuck closed. I'm waiting on the dealer for repairs. Any suggestion on how to get it open?
