700R4 problem

i put a corvette servo in my buddies camaro the other day, and things were goin good until we got on the highway and it wouldnt shift into overdrive. now before you tell me to check the shift cable, i know for sure that's not the problem. it shifts fine until you get to 3rd gear, it will stay in 3rd gear, but when you let off the gas the rpm's drop to almost an idle, and you coast. but when you hit the gas if feels like it's down shifting and goes back into third gear. it's like overdrive has become neutral. i'm far from an expert on tranny's but i think 2nd and 4th are either on the same band, or use the same clutch packs, in which if it were a burnt clutch pack or a broken band it think i'd lose both 2nd and 4th. i'm a little lost on this one, i hate to take it to a mechic and have him charge to fix somethin simple, so any help would be great. thanks

Re: 700R4 problem

actually, from what my transmission guy told me, 1st and 2nd are linked and 3rd and 4th are linked. cuz my 3-4 clutch pack blew out, i only have 1st and 2nd gear. i doubt that your corvette servo install caused this, unless you allowed foreigh debris into the trans while it was out, and that debris is causing a problem somewhere. im not sure exactly what would cause only fourth gear to not engage. i might be a bad pressure switch. but im not sure.
