anyone know whether nitros is a good idea in a 944 i need more speed the cars beautiful but really lacks power im thinking of nitros but im a bit skint and a bit wet behind the ears when working on cars im ok driving and polishing them any info will be appreciated

i cringe at the thought of running nitrous in a 944. if you want power, turbo the beast! you can always adjust boost and such. (shudder) no nitrous...

If you are not car savy dont get nitrous. Just be happy with the car the way it is. Unless you have alot of money to throw at the car whne it brakes due to to much stress.

thank for the response man but wouldnt instaling a turbo be a huge job and very expensive. if nitros is gona hurt my baby then i wont do it but i was told it was safe cheap and easy way to get some speed i love my car just wish id had the do for a turbo my 944 is black and looks great but just doesnt go that quick just how difficult do you recjon a turbo would be would everything have to be upgraded

The easiest and most reliable way to get more power out of the 944 turbo would be to go with a turbo upgrade. But you must make sure that all the suporting systems will be able to cope with the additonal power of a new turbo.

just do a search about turbos and 944's. There are a few good tuners out there for 944's.

First don't bother trying to put a turbo on a non-turbo car. If you want a turbo, buy a turbo. Have you tried a chip, cold air intake, free flow exhaust? As far as nitro the bottom end is really strong. If you don't go crazy with it and have it tuned correctly it won't hurt you car

A easy way to add some power to a N/A 944 is a super charge it may cost a little bit of cash but they are easy to install and can give you some major go power.

Nitrous is fine for a 944. As long as the nitrous shot isnt more than the engien can handle and you know how to use it correctly and its installed correctly, nothing bad will happen. I dont trust dry kits, wet kits are safer from detonation. I myself dont plan on doing a nitrous setup cause it would be no point for my car i dont drag race it or do anything that i need alot of power in a instant. Id get a progessive nitrous timer/controller so it builds up to the power not just hit that power all at once to be gental on the drivetrain. Alot of peopel will say you dont need one unless your running a big shot but i say better be safe than break a CV or tranny from sudden power. On any vehicle with stock internals I wouldnt go with anything bigger than a 50shot even if the componants can handle the stress. It might be able to hadle the sudden stress a few times but it will weaken and go out. Im thinking about long term engine durability. A 35shot would be fine on a 944 just to get it going a little quicker to its optimum RPM range. On turbo model a 35 shot would be perfect to eliminate turbo lag and get it to boost. 35shot with 10lbs bottle shouldnt run out to quick if you use it just to help spool the turbo than shut if off. with the timer have it set for a 1 or 1.2 sec delay before nitrous injects jst so the car is actually moving and there is less stress.

Dont see why people make a big deal about nitrous. I notice its mostly the Porsche purists who are against nitrous. Its got a bad rep. its just another form of forced induction. Engines need air to combust and nitrous is a oxydizer which relaes oxygen chich creates more power just like forcing more air with a supercharger. It however is temporary since a bottle does run out and can get expesive when you use it alot. Nitrous does create more stress on engine since it is a sudden burst of power instead but if you have that power build up to its peak gain than its no more stress than having a turbo or supercharger.
