E-brake indicator light on dash
I have a 99 tacoma.
THe light on the dash for the e-brake is always on. I have tried replacing the switch under the dash at the end of the e-brake handle. That did not work. I suspect the wiring from the switch up to the terminal block may be broken or there is a loose wire somewhere. Any suggestions? Thanks Mikeb |

E-brake indicator light on dash
I also have a 99 tacoma, and i have the same problem, it happens mostly when it is cold. your problem may not be with the switch, if you look on the handle shaft down by the switch, sometimes the cable doesn't reel itself all the way in. you just kind of have to use a screwdriver or your ignition key,to guide the cable on the roller. I hope this is your problem, because it is cheap. let me know how it goes.

Re: E-brake indicator light on dash
Same problem on my 98. I usually just jiggle the handle until it goes away. Or I just ignore it. I guess that really doesn't help you much....

Check you brake fluid under the hood. I used to have a Celica and the ebrake light started stay on. I told a buddy of mine and he told me to check the brake fluid, sure enough it was low and when I filled it back up it stopped staying on. Try that and see if it wont help.
