Catalytic Converter?

I have a '94 C/K 1500 and i want to get dual exhaust and all but i want somethin a lil louder than that. If i took the muffler off and put duals on would that be any louder than just slappin on duals with muffler on? if not i think ill take the catalytic converter off. I want my truck to be louder than dual exhaust originally is but i dont want police on my ass everywhere i go. Im all ears to any suggestions.

Re: Catalytic Converter?

For that year truck you can buy a pro street muffler that is custom fit. It is a lot louder than your stock silencer, but yet won't get you a ticket for being too loud or for improper equipment!

Most exhaust shops have these, some call them flow pro's, Master Flow's, just tell them what its going on and they can set you up.

I have one on my truck, it sounds awsome at idle, and when I got my foot in it, it really roars! So when I see a road check, I just drive normal and they dont even notice anything abnormal. If you take the muffler completely off, it will be really loud all the time, kinda hard to concel the fact you have taken it off, just asking for a road side inspection. I have been there, and trust me, it sucks. They always find something else while there there. I can get you the part number from my local shop if you need it.

Another option is the flowmaster cat back systems, They are complete and easy to do it yourself. Go to summit racing and check them out. You will want to get the american thunder system. They come in several bolt on configurations including duals. All of there duals have 2.5 inch tail pipes, instead of the 2.25inch like you have now. Plus there mandrel bent so they last a long time. From summit, delivered to your door is less than $300.

Re: Catalytic Converter?

anouther option if u dont have to worry about emisions is remove the cat or replace it with a high flow one ( $120) most muffler shops have them, then use a flow master. i have this done on my 87 c/k and it sounds awsome; gets me alot of attention from all the mustang and camaro crowd where i live. funny thing is the motor is all stock and has 206000 miles on it. it all depends on whatthe emissiions are where ur at as to wether or not u can do without the cat. if u have to have one go with the performance one.
