Dont bring back the Camaro

There was a post about bringing back the Camaro.

''some signatures around from anyone that would like to see the Camaro brought back. So if you would like to see one of America's great Muscle Cars every created Brought Back please leave your ->

-Name
-Year and Model of Camaro
-and a short reason why you love your Camaro and why it should be brought back''

I say, no. To me the life span of this car is like the Rocky movies. There all good except for the last one. The last generation of Camaros like '93 and up...well there boring. Most of them come with V6 2.8, unless you get the V8 option wich you have to pay more for. And its dumb because all up till that model they were good, and they messed that year up. And for them to try to bring it back is like Stallone doing another Rocky movie.

I almost got into a fight today with this kid. At school for auto, we have these panflit things. Theres a 3 gen Camaro poppin a wheelie and it says realize your dream. The kid goese and says "Well, no one can realize there dream with a Camaro'' ....I told him that I would whip his ass just like my car would whip his cars ass.

Re: Dont bring back the Camaro

First off, the V6 camaros in the 93 and up had 3.8L engine that pushed 200hp and that much torque, while I agree with what your saing to an extent, I don't think the Camaro falls in the same class as the malibu and the impala. Those cars even in there hayday didn't match up to the camaro. You are thinking that they will do the same thing, make it a front wheel drive family car. I disagree. The Camaro has been the staple of american affordable muscle since it's arival back in 1967, it was the car they all tried to beat, and few even matched. If chevy did bring it back it would not be a bump on a log. It'll be a hellion on the road, that's all I have to say about that.

Re: Dont bring back the Camaro

im gonna have to say youre wrong. RS said, the v6's offered were the 3.4 and the 3.8. both engines were very good powerplants. yes i know they were sixes, but in their respective catagories they were damn good motors. also, do you not recall the ss? the ls-1 was/is a freakin awsome engine. everyone says that in the fourth gen the camaros turned girly. i think that the 3rd gens are cool and intend on owning one after college, but they dont have the sleek, sexy curves of the 4th gen. also, if chevy brought back the camaro it would prolly have the gto ls-1, and the new ls-2 as an option. both engines are far more better than anything on the road today. i feel that you could not be further from the truth on this one...

The new camaros where among the most exciting and most pleasuable cars to drive. Now I hope some 3rd gen people don't get mad at me but in all fairness. The new camaros make more HP with better gas mileage and better realiabilaty. NOT that I don't like the 3rd gens. It's just that technology gets the best of everything. and that v6 that you are badmouthing will destroy a stock 305 3rd gen. Except for 1992RS's 305. It's like the it's the red headed stepchild on steriods . They should not of stoped making them. The only bad thing I can see with the camaro returning is that if and when they come back they will be so expensive because GM will think everyone has the "extra" money to buy a "remade american legend" It scares me to think of what they will butcher the camaro name into. Just like the GTO. I feel that if corprate GM is retarded enough so stop making the car, then, who konws what they will do next.

Re: Dont bring back the Camaro

I dont think they would make it a ''front wheel drive, family car'' I know they wouldnt. And yes they do get more HP and better gas mileage. Talking about realiable. GM makes good cars pretty much all around, so as long as you take care of the car you should be fine. But then again, shit happens to all cars old and new.

What I'm saying with them bringing it back is, It will be a flop. The body style is bland, and resembles all of the other cars out now a days because they use computers to make them. Look at the T-Bird. Its getting taken off the market because people arnt buying it. Pontiac is bringing back the GTO wich looks excatly like a Grand Prix wich looks excatly like a Grand Am, and even the Vibe and Aztec are similar to that body style.

Re: Dont bring back the Camaro

I wasnt bad mouthing it, and I know they'll beat a stock 305. Technology doese improve the cars performance by a considerable amount..But I bet it wont beat my car when its got a 383 stroker.

Re: Dont bring back the Camaro

yeah man, aint technology grand, the Z06 we did an emmisions test on today. 5.7L V8, 405hp, 30+mpg on the highway, and almost ZERO emmisions. its a brave new world ladies

but on the camaro deal, i do have definate fears. would i love to see the return of the camaro, absolutely, but am i terrifed of going down to the dealership and having them try to sell me a reborn muscle car, with a front wheel drive V6, cab forward design, and hybrid gas/electric tecnology??? again, yes. so i have mixed feelings, if they bring it back, i hope and pray they do a good job. but if they are going to do to it what they did the impala, then i say let the name rest in peice. (although i do shake my finger at everyone who is mocking the new GTO, that car is hot shit, no matter how you cut it.)

Re: Dont bring back the Camaro

Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. You dont want to see the honorbal name of Camaro get soiled by modern day socity. Not to mention puting a dent in its good name and reputation. The market trying to improve on something like that would be hard, because the Camaro has indeed made a reputation on the street, along with the track.

The GTO seems like a desperate atempt by Pontiac to get there sales up. Personaly I think if they want to get sales up, they need to stop making all there damn cars look the same. There is no denying that the new GTO looks the same as Grand Prix and Am.

Re: Dont bring back the Camaro

well, i will admit it is similar, but pontiac is not as bad as nissan. i mean come ON, they are all the same car, with different fenders lol. but seriously, all that really looks the same to me is the front end. the overall shape of the car, as would be expected from a car designed and built by another company, is different. remember, its not a pontiac, is a holden monaro. and those are the ones for those who didnt know, that are used in australias V8 supercar road course racing. those cars are wicked

The exhaust system was junk was accually cracked almost in half, the speedomater was shot, these along with a number of other things. Anyone that says they make better cars, is full of shit. Re: Dont bring back the Camaro

actually, not to be the disagreable one here, having sat in one and looked it over, i reallllly like the interior, the seats are bad ass, recaro-esk, the instrument cluster is red faced guages (want those BAD for my black and red camaro) rimmed with a chrome ring, and a black on black intereor, i think they did a bad ass job on it. the one part of the car that really dissapointed me, was the engine compartment, it looked like a cheesy made in taiwan mcdonnalds happy meal toy. i think they should have done a better job there.

GM has met the same problem that Ford have when they started making new generations of Camaros and Mustangs, yeah, some may say the were boring and just didnt cut it, though can say it about the Mustang-their sales were increasing every year. Now take a look at what Ford does, they recently launched their new retro Mustang which i am pretty sure is gonna be a second heyday for that model. Now it is time for GM to give us something fresh and interesting....GM rules!!!
