Unhappy Rought Idle and Fuel Filter

I replaced 2 injectors because they were leaking and now I have a rough idle - no leak though - I am thinking (and I am no mechanic so thinking can be dangerous) that maybe when I released the pressure in the system to do the repair and then re-pressurized the fuel system maybe some dirt in the filter cause a slight blockage so the engine isnt getting enough gas. It seems to drive fine except for the rough idle and a slight hesitation when I start. Is this a reasonable assessment? And if so I guess I need to replace it. But where is it? Both my manuals talk about it but never show where it is (I am checking again). Pls help. Thx

It sounds like you're running rich now. Without "fancy tools" though, it's hard to tell much of anything. If you have a timing light then you can see if you're firing at the right time, if at all. If you don't have one, then you can always take the spark plug out of the cylinder and run your car to see if its sparking, but make sure you ground the spark. And cover up the cylinder of course. And another fancy tool to have would be an A/F meter or gauge, which could tell you if you're running rich.

Re: Rought Idle and Fuel Filter

Thanks for the reply. Could the 'running rich' issue be caused by the fact that for the longest time its been leaking gas so maybe the 2 cylinders weren't getting the gas the needed and the car compensated for that and now that they dont leak it is too much gas (rich)? Is this an expensive thing for a mechnic to check and fix? Can I adjust it myself? If not on the first question I may as well take it to one and have it checked or done. Let me know.
