home made intake

because i made a CAI for my brothers civic, my friend want me to make one for him (hes got a lude, thats why im in this forum, duh!)
my friend just bought the lude and i havent had a chance to look at his engine bay yet...

is the engine bay very similar to the civics?? is the prelude intake layout is similar with the civic so can i copy the civic intake?

I wouldent do it if I were you. Homemade intakes usully never get a gain

i made one for the civic and it made substaintial gains...i had it hanging inside the front bumper... some of the original PH guys told me to do it (they were even helpful enough to link a site with all the steps to make it... hella cheap too!)

it'd be a cheaper route. AEM CAI cost almost $200. you can do one yourself for well under $100 and get about the same gains. just not as good looking as others. what are you using?

i made one for my lude. it stays pretty cool. didnt really do much, but its not supposed to for the 3rd gens. what generation are you making it for?

its gonna have the same or close gains, since it isnt dyno tuned for the car, but it'll make good power... the setup is similar to a civic if you are talking 5gen lude... on a 3gen, you have to move the battery, but that is pretty much the norm... i have a civic intake that i modded for my 3gen, and it sits right in front of the air inlet, but i have a small dent in my hood from where the back of the filter touches. but it sounds sweet so i dont care, and it made a huge difference over stock.

I don't really like the idea of "making" an intake for my Prelude. But I do know a very cheap, but dangerous way.

On a 4th Gen. Prelude, just disconnect the hose from the air filter, and set it just barely hanging off the edge. It's sort of a tight squeeze, so it won't move around, and the positioning is pretty safe, so you shouldn't suck anything in, unless your riding in the mud somewhere. Dangerous as it is, i did it to mine, and I felt a moderate amount of power. Cost = $0 or $2000 your choice.

Please don't try this if you're not 100% sure that it's safe.

Those worried about sound... it sounds good, I like the plastic sound when you're running about 6500rpm doing 135
