Front Wheel Speed Sensor

I have 2 dash lights "on".
1) ABS
2) Trac off

The scanner code; C1233, says its the right front wheel speed sensor.
Also says, its "open or shorted".

Any input on this problem? Apparently the whole hub and bearing assembly has to be changed.
Is it an easy job to do for the do it yourselfer?

Re: Front Wheel Speed Sensor

I will take about 2 hours to do yourself. It's not too difficult though.

Question

I'm having the exact same problem... same code and indicator lights. Any idea where I could get the parts? Or even better yet, what parts I need? Thanks!

Check the wire harness that runs to the wheel speed sensor very closely, you will have to unplug it and pull the plastic wire loom back, tug on each wire separately, the wire should not stretch or pull apart. If one of the wires is broke the best fix is to get a repair haress from GM as it is very flexible wire that gets flexed a lot (bumps and turns). The two wires are supposed to be twisted, it reduces EMI. If the harness checks out fine then you will need a wheel speed sensor, which on most models is integral to the wheel bearing hub assembly.
