Coming home to Hamilton from Mangawhai from a weekend away (about a 300km trip), just south of Owera I was cursing along doing about 130ish and a red Audi comes up behind me and flashes his lights, I thought ok wanker you have a 300+bhp car so I pulled into the left lane to let him pass next thing I know he pulls up beside me, and I notice is Valentine1 Radar detector screaming away like mad, so I quickly drop back to 100kms then he drops back to 100 and pulls in behind me
Sure enough over the next hill there is a black XR6 on the side of the motorway (hmmm undercover cop thanks mate) After we were a good 1 and 1/2 kms past the cop he pulls out beside me in the right and lane and signals me to follow him, I nod then he floors it right up to 170kph, I pull into the right hand lane and catch up (mind you that was allot of work) All the way though Auckland, though south Auckland, though Huntly to the point where I turn off at Taupri. Just before the Taupri turnoff I flash my lights, he slows down and I pull up beside him as I was turning off and gave him the thumbs up, he smiles, waves and floors it again as I take my exit. What would normally be a 2 and 1/2 hour trip was cut down to just over an hour Thanks Mr RS4 owner |

Damn dude not bad.
I've done Lower Hutt, Wellington to Auckland in 6hrs 10min, but a mate has done it quicker in his GTR in 5 hrs. 40mins. I just wasn't that keen as him though. 556kms and normally takes around 7 1/2 - 8hrs.

Re: Fastest Trip Ever (Mangawhai to Hamilton), NZ, Thanks to an Audi RS4
Damn here in america most people would have just let you get a ticket, sounds like a cool guy. What were you driving?

not all people would let you get a ticket... at least not cool ones...
120kmh isn't that quick though... but i'm sure trying to catch an audi that just jumped there from 100 wouldn't be easy...

I was in a 2L Mazda 626 rated at 110bhp so you can imagine that when the 380bhp Audi took off from 100kph -> 170kph It took me allot longer to gain speed. I also had my mate and his surfboard in the car.
Yeah there are a few wankers here as well that would just let you get a ticket, my reaction when I see a cop is pretty sharp though. The owner of this Audi was an exception to that, he look mid 30s at a guess and his ride was pretty damm sharp. |

Re: Fastest Trip Ever (Mangawhai to Hamilton), NZ, Thanks to an Audi RS4
Nice road trip, RS4's are pretty damn nice cars, though I always found them a bit common, when I was living over there. Occasionally in Italy I'll see a super-Merc or Ferrari and do a little country road Grand Prix. It's good fun.
Vince- my Peugeot 607 Luxury sedan got me from Eastbourne (Wellington) to St Heliers (Auckland) in 6h 25m. You need to drive faster
