Hood latch on the inside just stopped working and I can't get my hood to pop open. I've had this happen before on a camaro, any ideas that would save me a trip to the dealership? If not you guys have any idea what it might cost to fix?

Re: Hood Problem
not sure about the cost to fix it, but you might be able to reach up in from the bottom with a flashlight and a long screwdriver or something to pop the primary latch. Once you get the hood open, you can install a new cable. I doubt it is very difficult to do.
Good Luck...

Re: Hood Problem
ok, when you pull the release, is it loose and floppy??? if so the cable is broken, new cable will fix. if it still has resistance and pulls back, then the cable is fine. have someone hold the release inside the car, and then use the ball of your fist, and hit the hood about 6in back from the front of the hood, over the driver side headlight assebly, it will probly pop up. what is wrong is that your latch needs to be lubed, or you have a weak hood spring. i have to do this everytime i open my hood.
