another cf hood problem

Ok I've had my hood for awhile now (9-10 months) and it used to look really awesome but I'm starting to notice that the hood is turning grayish in color. At first I thought the hood was fading. Then the other day I decided to scrape a small part of the hood with my keys and it turns out that I could scrape the grayish part off and underneath was the nice black weaving. I have been recently polishing and waxing my hood alot lately. Is it possible that I've overdone it and the wax buildup is the reason why my hood is grayish in color? More importantly, what can I do to get rid of this? I'd prefer not to continue scraping my entire hood until it is black again and I really dont wanna take it to get professionally done. Will a clay bar work? Thanks

Man I've tried buffing that thing out several times. Whatever it is, its not superficial enough that a rotary buffer can get out. Anybody have any other ideas?

my first thought would be clay bar but im not sure. Have you looked at the meguiar products, there may be somthing for build up on the paint

Clay bar... I've had several CF hoods, and at most...all I had to do was clay bar it.
