Re: t-bird tack

you should be able to if it came out as factory. it shouldnt be much harder then getting the cluster for it and doing a little (if any) wiring modifications. about the only difference Ive seen so far is the cluster is different and the wiring is usually missing the tach wire/wires. not sure if its just got one or two wires running into it. but in some cases the wires attach in different spots on the plugs that hook into the dash cluster. if thats the case on yours then you have one of two options. if the plugs are the same on the two which most are you can sit down and very carefully pull each wire out of the spot it plugs into and put it where it goes in the plug end, or chop the end splicing the wires onto a new end. this requires either knowing the difference in the harnesses or having the wiring diagrams. the second option would be to get a new harness for the dash cluster you want to use from either a harness dealer or a junk car. make sure they have all the options your car has on it in the harness . after you get the new one strip the old one from your car and put the new one in. which is seriously a long troublesome job unless you have a good weekend or more to put into the car. personally I would get the diagrams that show what the wires are on the plugs and see if you have all the wires needed for the cluster switch. Im doing something similar to my 87. switching from the factory dash with digital speedo/analog guages to the fully digital cluster. Im going to have to go through my harness and add more wires and a sensor or two I believe to make it work. I have alot of spare time for the car, a helper, quit a bit of electrical knowledge on the wiring basics of cars, and alot of patience which helps greatly. its all a matter of how bad you want to put that paticular cluster in your car. if it came out of the factory with it then its deffinately possible to do it. anything factory for your year of car can be added to it. the foundation's there already. its all a matter of determination, parts, and time.
