Auto to Standard Trans switch?

Most importantly is it worth it?

I have a 95 Tbirb LX V8. Im not really a big fan of auto trans. In fact I hate them. Ne ways, I was wonding is it worth it to try and switch in automatic to a manual? Mainly a switch to a stang t45. Is the work worth it and how much do you think it would take? I have some mechanic friends who are more then willing to help, but id just like to get some more opinions.

It would take quite a bit of work, as you would have to retrofit the car with all the things that are necessary for a standard. It's a pain, I would wait until the auto goes, and you actually need to get a new tranny (although the car is relatively new so that might be a while). It all depends on how much you hate the auto, because it can take a lot of work/time.

Well I was getting some esitmates around $2k for a new auto tranny PUT IN (labor, parts, etc) and about the same $2k to get a manual dropped in professionally.

Its an easier swap if a manual was used for that application in the first place, like the 80's t birds.
If not, you would have to fabricate a trans mount, driveshaft and clutch linkage.
All these require experience to do properly.
Also, does your engine have a hole drilled in the rear of the crankshaft for a pilot bushing? If no, one will have to be made which is VERY difficult.
Take this project to a pro who has done this to this model of car before.

IMO sell the car and get a good standard trans car. It will be cheaper and much more convenient in the long run.
