best standard trans new car

I am thinking about buying a new car but I definitely want a standard transmission. The only cars I'm seeing them on are the more expensive luxury models. I can barely afford a new mid sized family sedan, so I can't quite go up to that price range. I'm also concerned about having a good fuel efficient car like a VW or something. My buddies VW gets 45 mpg, so I'd like to find something similar. Anyway, can anyone give me a list of cars that you know of that currently offer standard transmissions and are good on gas? Thanks!

Re: best standard trans new car

i would say the more gears you get the better the gas mileage would be. especially if you go on the interstate more often, then you could put it in the highest gear and have the least amount of rpm which would mean the engine using less gas.

i just have to add this because i love ferraris. i think that the best transmission out there is in the F1 transmission in the f-360, f-355, f-612, f-575, f-550, and the enzo. but since you probably cant afford these, then it doesnt matter.
