over boosting

i just installed my turbo, and i have a turbonetic deltagate wastegate. i 1st used the 7 psi spring but it kept boosting to 9+. i put the 4 psi spring in and it does the same just takes a little longer to get to 9psi. i only want to boost about 7. if i floor it to 6000rpm it looks like itll just keep goin up like i have no wastegate. anyone know what i can do to fix it?

Re: over boosting

maybe you have a faulty wastegate, i believe a boost conroller will help also. If yo do get a new wastegate try Tial wastegate's i heard they're very good

if i hooked up the vaccum and boost lines wrong could that cause it? for the vaccum line i T'ed it off with the line with the boost/vac gauge. and the boost line i hooked it to the compressor. should the boost be hooked with the manifold vaccum lines?

Re: over boosting

the wastegate's vaccuum line should come from the compressor, ther other ones really don't matter as long as they're getting the vaccuum/boost. The way to tes the wastegate is to take it off, and hook an air compressor to it with an air pressure guage (even a little electronic bycicle pump will work. read what psi the WG opens at, or whether it does at all. I'd bet it has something to do with your vaccuum lines. hook em up like I said and you'll probably be better off.

i hooked up the wastegate vaccum line to the compressor, and the wastegate just closed, and i don't think it opens under bosot. so then T'ed off the manifold vaccum line and hooked it up to the boost and vaccum of the wastegate, and the wastegate is still closed at idle. so i hook up the manifold vaccum line to the vaccum on the wastegate, and boost line to the compressor. the wastegate opened up at idle and it sounds and looks like it is opening up as throttle increases, but it still over boosts. any other ideas? i am using a 4# spring, and it goes up to 15+#'s
