Solution to over-boosted steering feel.
I mentioned this before, and since then, switched out from the standard steering wheel to a 260mm flat-bottomed wheel. In essence, the wheel is 1/3 smaller all the way round, which means that the force I have to apply to turn the wheel is 50% greater. As a corrollary to this, all the little bumps and squiggles that constitute feedback through the wheel are amplified by 50%.
In addition to giving me more legroom, which was the main purpose of the switch, it's made a noticeable difference to the steering feel. It feels a lot better now, and I don't feel a need to go to a manual rack anymore. So, if you're frustrated with your big wheel and numb steering feel, switch to a smaller wheel. I can now get in and out of the car without removing it as well! |

Re: Solution to over-boosted steering feel.
I essentially did the same thing, but also changed the rack to a closer ratio 2004 cobra rack, made a huge difference, but now I am going to a manual rack anyway as part of my Ls1 swap. We'll see how it goes!

Re: Solution to over-boosted steering feel.
Eric... let me know how the manual rack goes. I wanted to do one but everyone said I'd regret it and to just get used to the power rack.
Sometimes I wish I'd just made my Z06 a race car, but I know that if I ball up the Panoz it'll be 100x easier to fix.
