Question 2004 Mustang GT missing emblem?

I purchased a 2004 Mustang GT, Premium, 40th Anniversary edition (V8) a month and a 1/2 ago and I have a really stupid question. I apologize in advance.

I called the dealer about this several times, but they have no clue.

According to the sticker, my car is a GT, Premium edition. That's what I paid for. It's got all the GT specs. The question I have is: Why doesn't it say "GT" anywhere on it? I've seen other model year GT's and they all say GT somewhere - as an emblem, on the rear fender, inside on the dash somewhere... mine doesn't say GT anywhere.

I'm assuming that it's because it's the 40th Anniversary edition. It's got full leather interior with the original plated gear, accelerator, and brake pedals and plated gear shift. It also has a new exterior emblem where you'd normally see the Mustang emblem, just in front of the door panels on both sides. It says "40th Anniversary."

But it says GT nowhere. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any replies.

Well it is suppose too(99.99999% sure)..
I think they are only suppose to have one on the back like this one:

check out our VIN and make sure it is a GT Premium, does it have all the GT premium options? (Upgraded sound system, all leather interoir, CD changer, wheels, embroided floor mats, and brushed aluminum pedals)

More info.

Could it be that the 2004 model doesn't include the GT emblem? I went to Ford's web site and found a page where you can rotate the vehicle and look at it from all angles. There's no GT emblem anywhere. Here's the link:
http://www.fordvehicles.com/Cars/mus...ewID=16&bhcp=1

This link shows my exact model and color. This is the car I own.

I checked the VIN on the Internet, and it's definitely a GT, and it definitely meets all the specs of the 40th Anniversary edition. I even used the owner's manual, looked under the hood, and made sure it had the right engine - V8 - and it's all there.

Well - this is very strange. I would love to speak to Ford and ask them why they excluded the emblem. Maybe because it didn't appear on the Mustang 40 years ago and this is supposed to be the "Anniversary" edition. that would make sense, I guess, considering what they did to the interior to make it look like the original.

Thanks to those who replied. I guess I can live without the emblem...but if another guy asks me "Is that a Saline??" at the gas station because it doesn't say "GT" anywhere, I'll think I'll start lying and say, "Why Yes! It is!" ...just kidding.

Cool 2004 GT, Premium, 40th Anniversary

Just because I think she's really pretty...here's my car. It was "Day 1" when I took this in November.

Actually, the first Mustang GT was in 1965(the autos were called "GTA"). Well, on that 360 view on fords website, if you look realy hard in the spot where it is suppose to be it gets really dark and fuzzy. Now if turn the car 1 and 2 "notches" around on each side and you can actually see the little chrome shine. So i am sure that it is suppose to have one. You must have just gotten one that was missed, thats probably pretty rare, you have three options (check to see if it is rare to not have one first):

1.You could go to Ford can complain and get one free if it all works out.
2. Buy one(either from Ford, or see a junk yard) and put on.
3. Or, if its rare, keep it the way it is, who knows how much a "missed" Mustang would go for in 30+ years.

i like that color blue, id keep the emblem off and not bother to put a new one on then people might think youre a v6 when you pull up to them. but if you insist on gettin on they are only $8 bucks.

ALL 2004 Come with the 40th ann badge, The same as the 35th Ann Stangs.

Heres one way to tell if its a GT....

Look on the engine... Does it have a V8? It should have a running pony on the Plenum.
Does your VIN contain the letter X??

Hey it's just and emblem, as long as you know it's a Gt that's all that matters. Just think of it as the "sleeper" look.

People should be able to tell it's a GT without the badge. The dual slots cut out in the back and bullets are dead giveaways. Although, I just bought bullet wheels for my 99 v6; not tryin to fool anyone I just love em' and hated my old wheels.

Re: 2004 Mustang GT missing emblem?

jj like the color. I got a 2002 V-6 the same color. I heard that the 40th anv. GT's would be badged just like the 35th anv. GT's. Where the anv. badges on the fenders and the GT badge on the trunk.
