Re: have a few questions
They're good trucks, period
. I've noticed manual ones "survive" longer, but it really depends on the driver/owner. The main problem is they never die unless you kill it...if you consider that a problem . They're fix-able by the average/below average mechanic. And recently I've noticed there's companies (in America!!) that sell new/used/reconditioned/aftermarket parts for these trucks. Anything from almost-complete trucks to the "little-do-hickey-thingy" part under the truck . I'm currently looking for a 79-83 pickup...slightly different body, same dependability.

Re: have a few questions
I owned a 87 toy and I loved it. They are great trucks, really simple and easy to fix, and they just go. The only downfall is that they are not very fast. I would definately go with a manual transmission. The 22R doesn't have enough power to make an automatic worth while. As far as main problems go I think that it is just basic maitenence and the clutch at about 130,000 depending on driver. Get one, you won't be dissapointed, I know I wish I never would have sold mine.
