mpfi swap trouble
hey, did you guys run both of the yellow with black stripe wires from the 2 old dx injectors to the ressistor box or just one? Also do you have to use the si ecu for this swap, also what order to the injectors fire in,

Re: mpfi swap trouble
I have heard you dont have to run both black stripe wires to the box but i ran both anyways.
yes, you will need the PM6 SI ecu for the swap to work correctly.

Re: mpfi swap trouble
Yes every d-series manifold work work on your engine. 88-91 are very easy to put on followed by 92095 which arent much harder. Because you dont need the injector resistor box, but you have to wire obd1 if using obd1 injectors.

Re: mpfi swap trouble
just to clear up a common misconception, you can use obd1 injectors with an obd0 ECU as long as you wire in the resistor box

what im saying is that if you happen to have the OBD1 injectors with your OBD1 intake manifold, but you are using an OBD0 ECU, you can wire in the injector resistor box and use the OBD1 injectors with your OBD0 ECU..... one less thing to buy.
As far as the map sensor goes, you can either use it or the one of the firewall. there is no difference. |

Re: mpfi swap trouble
for the map sensor. are the plugs the same or do i have to swap the out?

the plugs are identical. you can use either the firewall mounted map sensor or the throttle body sensor

do you still switch the 2 wires going to the TPS on the 92-95 intake? My injectors are fireing the same amount at idle and wot, i dont know whats wrong. Ecu runs code 20, i think thats circuit overload or power overload. Any one fallow a mpfi swap tech sucsessfull?

Re: mpfi swap trouble
how do you use the map sensor on the firwall with the 92-95 intake manifold, mine is missing the map sensor on top of the TB

Re: mpfi swap trouble
i would just go buy a new one and then take the plug off the fire wall and plug it in. or if you can take the one off the fire wall and try to find a way to put it on the intake manifold dunno let me know how it works out.

Re: mpfi swap trouble
For those of you mixing and matching OBD-1 and OBD-0 allow me to clear up something which doesn't seem to be explained too well.
With OBD-0 injectors they are low impedance and require the use of an injector resistor box. The box turns down the power going to those injectors, if you have too much power going to them they will get fried. If you use OBD-1 injectors you DO NOT use an injector resistor box. OBD-1 injectors are high impedance and require more power to use them. You would simply solder the 4 same colored wires that would go to that box together, thus eliminating it. For the intake manifolds it doesn't matter, they are just hunks of metal. As for the TPS I believe you would still switch them because all the MPFI have the TPS turn the same way, the DPFI had them turn the other way so that is why you need to switch them around. To use the MAP sensor on the OBD-1 manifold just extend the MAP sensor wires so they will reach to the engine and plug the vacuum hose onto the throttle body. |

OBD1 injectors with an OBD0 ECU & *RESISTOR BOX* sure runs good enough to propel a SOHC VTEC to a 9.7 1/8 mile

Re: mpfi swap trouble
with obd1 injectors DO you or DO YOU NOT use a resistor box. there seems to be different opinions on this.
