Ford Escort Mk 2 kit - Anyone built one?

Hi everyone
I just saw this on Ebay Australia and was wondering if anyone had built one, before I go and pay $60 something (Aust) for it.

I am a huge Escort fan (my first car was an Escort and it was a tank!)and I have never seen a kit of a Mk 2 (or Mk 1 for that matter), is this my only option or is there something better availiable?
I would love to build one up, this one looks it is an Ari Vatanen RAC Rally version.

Thanks for any assistance

Duncan

(Fixed the link, hopefully it works now!)

I don't know anything about this kit, but I too would love to build it.
This one is too expensive (and far away) for me.

I don't know about the quality of these kits but they are very popular on eBay. I've seen a few of these ESCI kits (including this very same one) go for well over £30 on eBay UK. There are people out there prepared to spend quite a lot of money on these old kits, so they're either very collectable or pretty good quality.

I'm not aware of any other plastic kits available. If your skills are up to the job you might be able to kit-bash something out of an old diecast.

I'd say go for it. You'll have something quite rare if you do get it ... when was the last time anyone saw a Mk II Escort here on AF?

I have some ESCI Escort kits. The quality is not the best, but on par with Revell Germany's stuff. Although not Tamiya quality, they are the only kits for this series of Escort. There is sufficient detail i.e engine, seatbelt buckles, etc. A bit expensive though now that they are deleted, but worth it for quite a decent model when built.
