Sounds like BS
I have not heard of this before. I don't think there would be any gain in horsepower.
Changing the temperature of the air makes a big difference, because your cumbustible mixture in your cylinder is made up of lots of air, and just a little bit of fuel. Colder air lets more O2 molecules enter into the same space, so you get more compression and more power when it ignites. Colder fuel? Not much difference at all. If cold fuel made a big difference, every one of us would notice every single time we drove our cars and it was cold outside. Sounds like BS to me. Flunky |

I've seen guys with fuel cells pack them full of ice before they race. I don't know how much of a difference it would make with a low HP car.

well the guy was talking about cold boxes on the intake and how if ur going to race u drop some dry ice in the box to super cool the air, then he said the fuel line thing would have the same affect.
heres the direct quote from the book: "An old trick from the street racers of the 1970s is to inject a little "artic freeze" into your air system. This requires installing a "cold box" onto your air pipe. The cold box is nothing more than aluminium canister that the air pipe runs through. You drop a small block of dry ice inside the canister just before racing. This supercools the air before in reaches the injectors. A similiarand easier affect can be accomplished by routing your fuel line through a cold box. However, beaware that this may cause a massive temporary horsepower surge and should not be combined with the use of nitrious oxide" i think the fuel somehow cools the air or something? |
