I need help building my 68 from ground up

I've got a 68 that needs to be reasembled and i dont have the tools or knowhow to do it all myself, does anyone know of a good shop that can do the work and a reasonable price? I'm in the LA area SFV actully. I have a decent budget but i've been quoted 5k just for labor costs and im not able to that labor and pay for needed parts.

anyhelp would be apreciated

Re: I need help building my 68 from ground up

lol, man, you sound like my brother, he just bought a 1973 bronco, and wanted to learn about cars on it cuz it was simple to work on and no comupters, i respected that alot out of him. so he asked me to help him with it i said sure. came home from work, the engine was completely dissasembled and all over the carport, the intereor was gutted, and peices were everywhere and he had a big grin on his face. took us two months to get it back together and running, and its still leaking oil and needs a pan gasket. lol. my first suggestion, is to buy the shop manuals for the car, they are golden. tell you just about everything you need to know. also, it would be worth while to make friends with, or find someone you know, who knows alot, and i mean ALOT about cars. and buy them a few beers to help ya in person. its not gonna happen by yourself. if it does, i would be very VERY impressed.

ill do it, im taking a auto mech class this quarter so that should help. I've done minor stuff like change starters and install rpm tachs so i think if i take it one thing at a time and take my time i should do ok.

i just gota find a good book tho, i havnt been able to find any that give you step by step on how to reasemble the car.. im sure theres one out there

EBAY!!!! thats where my bro found all his books. and yeah no better way to learn than to jump elbows deep in it and do it. its also a great bonding experience if you have a friend or relative. my bro and me had a helluva lot of fun doing that old bronco together, and im really proud of him for it. hope you have as much fun as we did.

Yeah dude, jumping in head first will leave a bump. Get the book, ebay is great, or a good book store might have it. That's how I learned camaros, just got the haynes manual and went for it. I've taken several third gens completly apart down to the bones and put them back together. It takes a lot of time and some money. But you will be proud as hell. good luck

my sister totalled her prelude last year. my friend and i jumped right into it having never done any major work (none at all myself) but we managed to rebuild the entire front end of the car. took us a few months but dammit if it wasnt an awsome way to learn cars
