Radio display out
I have a 93 Accord EX with the factory am/fm/cassette player. Last year the display statred intermittently coming on/off. Now the display is out all the time and has been for a couple months. Has anybody had this problem and is it easliy fixed? Is there a website that gives fixes for these things?

Re: Radio display out
I don't know of a common problem or fix for that. My suggestion, Get yourself a new aftermarket head unit with cd or tape payer. Check out www.crutchfield.com - if you order from them, the new radio will be pre-wired to a harness & all you do is follow simle instrutction & unplug the old to plug in the new - they also include mounting kits(if needed) for free. When I worked for Honda, we would send the radio's out out for repair - factory radio's are not cheap at all & I have no idea why. Maybe because it says Honda, Alpine & I forget who else made them.

The current factory radio does not sound that great. The bass is virtually non-existent. I am not one to listen to loud music and want alot of window vibrating 'thump' but will replacing just the radio help this or would I also have to replace the speakers as well? I have no intentions of replacing the speakers or adding amps. I guess I'm asking if aftermarket radios(medium price range) are any better/worse quality than the factory version. Thanks for your reply.

Re: Radio display out
I replaced the factory stereo on my 93 Accord recently with a CD player. It simply didnt sound like a CD ought to so I checked the rear speakers by simply lookin at them from inside the trunk. To my amazement I was looking thru the speakers at the blue sky. The speaker cones had simply deteriorated completely with age. Bought a pair of relatively cheap 6 1/2 s , easy install and I am now very proud of the sound in my ride.
