Re: Ps2 or XboX ?

Depends- You can buy NFS:U for XBox and then have bugger all good games left to buy, but decent graphics bundled into an old PC

or a PS2 with less of the Graphics- but more choice for games- and the Multi-zone DVD software you can buy seperately

If racing games are your thing then the Xbox is the clear winner. Superior graphics and sound. Plus you can rip songs from your CDs and put them on the Xbox so when you're racing you can listen to your own music. It has a hard drive so you don't need to buy BS memory cards. People say there are no games on Xbox but there are more games out there than I could ever get through. The Xbox DVD player is progressive scan, as far as I'm aware the PS2 isn't. The PS2 is also a PC. But it's even older, and it's lacking versatility and a hard drive.

Re: Ps2 or XboX ?

WTF??? The XBox literally is a Pentium III 700mhz (32 bit) machine which is running Windows 2000

While the PS2 isn't running any OS- but Linux do hardware for it- and hasa 150mhz 128 bit processor- Which sounds more like a PC???

XBox has NO good driving games- there is nothing that can match the realism of GT3- except Sega GT- which has shit cars in comparison- and with the impending release of GT4- it can only get better- I can also listen to my own music when I play GT3- it's called an iPOD- but I prefer to hear the cars, thanks. Oh and try taking your harddrive of your XBox to play on another XBox- can't do that- but you can do it with PS2 memory cards.

Yep- forgot to mention that Project Gotham RAcing games are arcade pieces of crap- so don't think of naming them as semi-decent

Re: Re: Ps2 or XboX ?

The PS2 has a DVD Player- and with the Multizone thing you can buy works just great.

The games from Sony's Polyphony digital studio are reasons enough to shaft an XBox for a PS2.

The Multizone DVD thingee- is called the DVD Region X Key. Basically your USM PS2 will only play Zone 1 DVD's (Which is the North America zone) BUT with this little piece of genius you can play DVD's from all Zones in the world, just as you would a Zone 1 DVD- I'm not too sure on it's availability in the States though.........

Lets see if we can put this into perspective. Lets use cars as an example. For the same price you could buy a 2 year old car with a smaller engine and less features. Or, you could buy a new car with a bigger engine and more features. Seems kinda simple if you ask me. 700 mhz versues 150. That REALLY puts it into perspective. And who cares if it resembles a PC. They both have the same damn purpose. Project Gotham Racing 2 is one of the best arcade racing games out there. The detail and sound embarass Grand Turismo. Moto GP is the best motorcycle game and there's no better rally game than Rally Sport. The PS2 is antiquated and the only reason people are choosing is because they own one. Most people who own both usually play the Xbox more.

Re: Ps2 or XboX ?

Better Rally ame??? You simply cannot surpass the WRC I, Extreme or III games done in-house by Sony- I mean there is every single rally, every single Special stage in each Rally course, every single driver ('cept Colin McRae- for reasons)

I don't play motorbike games so I won't go into that.

Too bad the realism in PGR 2 doesn't shame GT- or the car selection (Which is pathetic) So basically the 4 month old PGR 2- can't surpass the 3 year old GT3 funny innit? Remember the realism is the selling point of GT.

The PS2 has 150 mhz- BUT a 128 bit processor- which is 3 times more than that of the XBox- which means that the ACTUAL speed of the processors is actually rather similar- Remember- it is a game-oriented processor- not a 32 bit Pentium.

Well, it's up to this guy to choose. I'd say rent them both and a couple games to compare. I like both systems and would be happy to add a PS2 to my media center. But Xbox keeps me more than occupied for playing video games. Plus it's designed to work with HDTV which is what my TV is. Oh yeah, that hard drive is 8 GB so you can add entire music albums to the box and have no worries. Xbox Live has also been reviewed as being superior to PS2's.

Ok pro and con time...

XboX pros so far...
XboX live better than Ps2 online capabilities.
Better sound and graphics.
DvD player
No memory cards (no extra money 2 spend, correction to blindside) 10 Gig hard drive.
Newer than Ps2 (less of my friends have it)

XboX cons so far...
Not as much games as Ps2
Harder to borrow shit I don't wanna buy from friends
Big and bulky...harder to fit comfortably in car.
Controller too bulky...takes getting used to.
No memory cards...cant take it somwhere else
Just learned you have to buy remote control to play dvds

Ps2 pros so far...
Better variety of games
Memory cards (more money to spend) can be moved when needed to
Better controller
Smaller, fits better into small spaces in car
DvD player

Ps2 cons so far...
Memory cards cost money
Multizone thingee costs money
Everyone has it (all my friends)

Ooooookay...half way through this post I looked up Ps2 vs XboX on google and this looks like the best article there is on it
XboX vs Ps2
