Painting my PS2 & Xbox

I didn't know where else to post this...I figured I get a lot of good ideas posting it here, but if it should be someplace else please move it.

I'd like to paint my PS2 and my Xbox. I don't really know where to start. I was thinking I should sand it with a really fine grit sand paper then prime it and then paint and then clear coat. Does that sound about right??? I've never done anything like this before at all so any help would be greatly appreciated. Again sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum.

im not sure extactly where u should put this one either, maybe the gaming forums? anyways u done have to sand it, just clean anything off it, sand it if u want it to be real smooth, use kyrlon fusion its cheap and goes on real nice, then krylon also makes a clear coat so get that, but make sure u let the paint fully dry befor u put on the clear

Thanks for the advice. I was going to put it in the gaming forums, but I figured if I wanted to do it right the modeling forums would be best.

i painted my Xbox Controller. I definatly reccommend removing ALL electronics from the systems first. Then primer the thing. I dont know if primer was needed but I would do it anyways. I used Testors Red paint from the can. I belive i only did one coat. Then i put a clear coat on (krylon clear coat). I regret only putting one coat of clear on...the paint has started chipping and scratching off. The one thing i cant stress enough it REMOVE THOSE ELECTRONICS!!!!! Thats the most important thing!

I was thinking of making a red tinted controller, but you'd have to leave the paint sit a while so it wouldn't get all nasty in your hands right?

i chose not to paint the handle parts red. I just painted the area in the center red for that exact reason.

you can get custom skins that look just as good as paint, even cooler due to some of the designs, and they have them for your controllers to so everything matches

Oh I plan on removing all of the electronics!!! That's one thing I've learned growing up around my dad is that such little things can screw electronics up so easily.

those skins might be something to look at. Ive opened my PS2 one time because it stopped opening and it was sooo complicated to even open much less take it apart. Im sure the Xbox "aint no picnic" either. Plus opening/painting voids your warranty. The controllers arent too complicated to take apart.

I really don't know what meh means. I've been saying it for years. I think it might mean I don't mind or I don't care? I was planning on getting LEDs for all of my electronics in my bedroom.

The warranty has been up for over a year on my PS2 and Sony recently fixed it for free as it had never been dropped or opened.
