new to the 3kgt scene
alright guys help the new guy out. I'm looking at a 91 3000GT (SL). Her's the quandery. The guy had the car sitting up for like a year. A supposed "tech" told him to run a treatment through the tranny. The guy told me that almost instantly (like about 5 or 10 min) the tranny started to jerk and slip. The car has since been sitting and will move underit's own power, how ever it does take a slight RPM boost to get it moving. Now my question is, IS there some type of specail fluid that this thing takes? I think that he is running a large amount of treatment, possibly 75% or better. If I drain and refill the tranny with the right fluid will it take care of it or is the whole tanny in need of replacement. Thanks..

Is it a manual or auto transmission? There was recall on the transfer case, was that done?

New to the 3kgt scene: part deux
okay, for those interested. it wasn't the tranny. It was the linkage and/or the REALLY old tranny filter and fluid. Appartently, the Lucas tranny treatment had some bizzare effect with the fluid and made a much thicker fluid and gummed up the filter. I plan on changing out the fluid again in a month or some to make sure all that crap is out of there.
