I had my window tint done back in October and I was looking to get some nice dark tint that would last for a long time without changing color. I was prepared to spend $$$ to get the job done right. Well in NC we have state law that says tint has to allow at least 34% light through, so I wanted the darkest that would allow me to pass inspection.
When I told them what I wanted - the darkest tint that will allow me to pass inspection the guy showed me a car in the showroom that was close to what they could give me. I said - "That's not very dark", to which he replied - "Well I could do it for you off the books but you didn't get it done here, understand?" So I just went with what the darkest that I was told that I could get (FormulaOne Ultimate 38) and still be legit and under warranty, etc. Well I just got my annual state safety inspection two weeks ago and the meter reading said that 70% light comes through. So I said WTF??? 70% is way lighter than 34%. I am going to call the place today to find out what they will do about it? What do you think the shop that did the job for me should do to make this right? Any shop owners out there - what would you do if I came in with this problem? Oh BTW: I had to darken the glass in my sig. pic to make it look like I want it, when all is said and done.

If its Llumar Formula One tint, then its all warrentied against scratching, peeling, fading, bubbling.. pretty much everything. Its one of the best tints out there... good choice. I chose Llumar FormulaOne Comfort because I liked the metalic reflective look on my car.
I used to work at a tint shop that dealt with Llumar tint. There are four shades... light, medium, dark, and limo. Which one did you choose? Also, you should ahve a small pamflet with your reciept, info on your car an tint in it. What does it say on it? A good thing about it is if you know how to take advantage of the "loop hole". If you have limo all the way around your car, its illegal as hell! Now if you get pulled over, you'll get a fix-it ticket, and the cops somtimes will even scratch it with their keys and make a small hole! (@ssholes). Now what you do is even if they dont make a scratch, do it anyways. Yes, scratch off your own tint. Now go to the tint shop and say "hey, its scratched... I want it changed to a new fresh tint. Its part of the warrenty". Now tell them you dont have time... if they can just strip the tint now, and when you have time if they can put the tint on later. Now that they removed the tint... go get your ticket cleared (your tint is off). Once you're clear, got back to the tint shop and have it put back on. Now your record is clean, and you still got your tint on

Re: Window Tint Problem - need advice
If a cop scratched the tint on my window I would be pissed! I'd proy take my car home and put scratches on the glass in the same spot that he scratched my tint off then say he did it, the #%$&%... That pisses me off just thinking about it
