little story from a newb

okay, so I went out today to test drive a 1993 Mustang 5spd 5.0L. So i test drive it, and it is pretty okay, the guy who owns it is really cool. He came along for the test drive which can sometimes suck, but he was tellig me to floor it and to keep pushing it harder (the car that is you wierdos) and so i got to take it on the freeway and such. So we get back and at talking about the car and just car stuff. And he shows us his F-150 Lighting that he droped like a 600ci engine in it and has a 98mm turbo he just installed runing i think he said around 15lbs of boost. He showed us his timeslip of 12.53 with street tires. This was with his older 88mm turbo. So anyways, he has this other 1991 GT 5.0L that has about 285,000 miles but has a new egine put in over 100,000 miles ago. It is a 302 with aliminum gt-40 heads and intake with BBK headers. So he was talkign to us, showing us that (just for fun, that car wasn't so sale) and then he is just like..you guys want to see what this thing can do? So me and my friend are stoked since really about a slightly modified (MSD ingnition and JBA headers + flowmasters) 5.0 is about the faster car i have ever been in. So he starts rocketing down the freeway, get to about 130 mph in 3rd gear, which of course blew me away since I normally drive this 1995 VW Jetta GLX (it is a VR6 which makes about 170hp and is 5sp) so for me at like 5th gear, at 80, i am hiting about 3200 rpm..so for this guy to be doing over 130 in 3rd gear, that was really something for me.
So just a little story from a newb about how i love even more the awsome power of the 5.0

That 600Ci engine under 1 bar of boost is about equal to a 1200ci engine. I would think that it would do better then a 12.5. Even if it was on street tires.

Re: little story from a newb

well he mentioned that a friend of his has almost the same setup, but was running on slicks and that guy was running low 10's, and he says that now he should be runing almost high 8's with his new setup
could have misunderstood him though

Re: little story from a newb

well, it was a truck if that makes a difference, and i am not sure. also I could be wrong, it could be he was just runing the engine with no turbo. My story was mainly about the drive on the freeway. He was telling us that what he does sometimes to have fun in going about 70mph on the freeway opens up the throttle and starts to burnout on the freeway..freaks people out

Re: little story from a newb

HiFlow5.0 - no I am not, i think i am gonna go wtih a 1994 GT 5.0L Convertible 5spd...it has onyl 84k miles on it and is it the best condition i have seen a used car in, it looks almost like it has never been driven. I am going with that, I really prefer the Fox body, but this is gonna be better for me now.
Hypsi87: I am sorry i can't tell you that, only that it was 88mm, really if my story doesn't add up then just disregard it, i am just repeating what he told me, and I don't know enough to dispute him
