Recently, my park brake light on the dash of my '91 K1500 started flashing.....3 short flashes followed by a long flash. It must be a code of somekind. Any ideas anyone??

Re: Brake Light flashing
yeah, mine just blinks. I don't think it's a code, but maybe it's a hint to get your brakes checked out. mine are kinda crappy, so I think it may have something to do to it

Re: Brake Light flashing
check your fluid level, if not i doubt its a code. make sure your park brake foot lever isnt loose or partially pushed down.

Brake Light Flashing Code
Blown R1, I am sure you ment well, but
The flashing brake light IS in fact a CODE. I found the following information on a GMC forum. MESSAGE my brake light was flashing a code I don't have the codes for the brake system, it was 4, 15 times , then one 3 then back to the 4's? does this make sense to anyone? thank's LINK REPLY Is this happening on the '89 you have listed in your info? If so you should only have rear wheel anti-lock...according to a Chiltons diagnostic flow chart I have, they say to hook up a TECH 1 or equivalent to check the codes.. OR you can jump the "A" and "H" pins of the ALDL connector under the dash to get the codes by reading the flashing brake light....any how here r the codes: Code 2: open isolation solenoid or EBCM malfunction Code 3: open dump solenoid or ECBM malfunction Code 4: grounded anti-lock pressure valve rest switch Code 5: excessive dump valve actuations during anti-lock stop Code 6: erratic speed signal Code 7: shorted isolation solenoid or ECBM malfunction Code 8: shorted dump solenoid or ECBM malfunction Code 9: open or grounded speed signal circuit Code 10: stop lamp switch circuit Codes 1, 11 and 12: invalid diagnostic trouble codes Codes 13, 14 and 15: electric brake control module (ECBM) malfunction You could also clear the codes by removing the "STOP/HAZARD" fuse for at least 5 sec. and see if it may reset... I would also suggest that you get a repair manual to verify the above information for yourself, it would also detail the procedures for diagnosing the problem...the components of this system are REPLACE ONLY items, and I would hate for you to waste money if the diagnosis is incorrect and the problem comes back after replacing parts.....Hope this helps..GOOD LUCK hey , thank's for the info , I'm gonna try it right now. Thank you again!!!!!!!!! Is it the parking brake light flashing or the regular brake light ?? If it is the regular brake light then it is indeed a code for the rear antilocks. If it is a parking brake light then it is not a code. From what you describe it is an exact sequence of flashing which tells me it is a code for the antilocks. If it was anything besides the antilocks the light would stay on steady.
