Breakin down

Aiight so my 87 si is breakin down. I changed the oil cuz it was black as hell. Now its black again!! Could this be cauzed by bad piston rings or what? Also once i turn it off I hear a ticking sound ( no it's not a bomb) IS it lifter tick? I dont thinks so cuz it only happens after I turn the car off. HELP!!!

a little more info would be nice, you say breaking down, what does it do exctly? lots of ways to break down. oil truning balck, as far as your rings go are you getting blue smoke all the time? if not they should be alright. with an old engine its gunna get black quickly no matter what. what i do to help slow it down run a mix of 3L kerosine (sp?) and 1L if 10W30 thru my engine for about 5 or 10 minutes when i cange my oil (in place of the oil, not the gasoline ) that just gets all the oil sticking to everything and in the pump and whatever cleanes out so the new oil is clean from the start. just dont drive anywhere when u do it, just let it idle

Re: Breakin down

No blue smoke. I changed my oil started it up for like a minute n a half turned it off. then like 2 days later i turned it on again for like 5 minutes n checked the oil n it was black i didn't drive the car and it was only on for 8 min. max after i changed the oil.
