When you buy a kit....

Do you open it right away, even though you are working on another one? I always do. I like to look at the pieces and skim over the instructions. Find out what I have to look foward to.

Don't even mention looking in the box of a new kit!
I find it hard enough not to start it, let alone not look in the box!

I can see why people just collect the kits and never build them! It is so exciting!
But it is how my imagination pictures the built model that is the best part!

I always do. Just to be informed which paints and materials to buy in my next visit to model shop. It's far enough out of the city so I do my shopping rarely.

You bought Porsche 911? Nice choice!
I have 911GT3 which is similar kit (just different wheels, front bumber and rear spoiler, Recaro bucket seats)
I also have spare 911 parts in my kit. Don't know why they include it

Yes, I most certainly do! [TMI WARNING]In fact, I usually grab the instruction sheet first thing and take it into my "office" for inspection. [/TMI]

They do it because they're sneaky and cheap. The regular 911 came out first, no doubt, then when they wanted to make you your 911 GT3, they give you the same 911 kit, plus the other GT3 parts. Same thing with the NSX and NSX Type R; the Type R has all the parts the regular one does, plus the Type R junk.

I don't think there is anything wrong with doing that. It probably saves money and keeps the cost down. Keeping the cost down makes the kits cheaper for us.

BTW I was looking at the 911 Carrera the other day, but I'd probably get the GT3 first. I happen to like the funky spoiler and flashy side skirts.
