Skyline 2000 GT-R (KPGC-10)
Currently I am considering importing a circa 1970 skyline into the U.S. I know that the true GT-R's of this vintage are pricey, so I will probably just rebadge a GT and add the spoiler, etc. I think I shouldn't have any problems with registration due to the age of the vehicle. But, does anyone out there know where I can get info, find parts, etc? My concern is that after I begin the restoration (i.e. move back to michigan) I won't be able to get any parts. The other option would be to repower the vehicle, but then you aren't true to its roots and you create the potential to screw up the handling characteristics of the vehicle (if you choose your engine unwisely that is). Anyhow, if anyone has one of these in the states I would like to talk to you.
Thanks. |

I wish you good luck in finding both the vehicle and the parts! If you are realisticly planning this project, be aware that it will probably end up costing you more then getting a new one. The reason being they are becoming extremely rare in Japan! Japan has extremely hard inspections to pass the older the car gets so most of the pre 80's Skylines have been junked and destroyed.
Last year, before I left Japan, I came across a person who had an old '69 Skyline (just a normal one) that had a good body, but the engine had a blown block. I asked about getting it, planning to repower it with my RB20 as may have done, and he would take no less then ~$10,000! Yes, that's US dollars after I figured out the conversion from Yen!) Most of the intact ones go for ~$20,000.Again, I wish you luck trying to find one!
