Rice or Sleeper? What would you do?

Would you rather rice out your Tib?, (for people who don't know that term, in short adding extra interior and exterior mods to the car to make it stand out more to the common eye. See 2fast 2 furious) or would you rather have your car be a sleeper? (which mean no exterior mods, but all the enhancements are under the hood of the car)

I'm more of a fan of the sleeper for a few reasons. One, suprises the guy/girl, in the car next to you off the line. Two, makes it so that you can bring your car to more professional events, weddings, meetings etc and still have that sports car look. And three, I think that alot of riced cars are just asked to be pulled over...lol

-just so you know I have nothing against riced cars and I think that some of them are really tight, but I personally wouldn't rice mind I would put mods under the hood. (But first I'm going to master the stock verison before adding mods so that the transfer is much smoother)

Re: Rice or Sleeper? What would you do?

well some people may think that running a sleeper is "looking stock", but I think that sleepers keep a certain surprise for the person you're running against.

bro thats teh most ignorant thing i have ever seen you say...
man thats not the definition of rice at all....
so oyu sayin body kits are rice?....
carbon fiber hoods are rice?
theres a huge difference in rice and a good looking car....
this is jus retarded.....
you find a fwd car witha huge wing on the back... thats rice!
double dual exhaust on a single exhaust car... thats rice....(unless the car is modded to need it... which is almost never)
having your interior painted or fixed to your liking..... hows that rice at all?....
not all mods for a sleeper are under the hood!
weight reduction is a huge part of a sleeper....
i think youre totally off and dont understand teh tuning scene and teh whole idea of makin your car stand out and look good... or stand out and look liek rice....
with mycar i can pull up anywhere and people jus drop their jaws....
i can go to any professional place i want with it.....

some people take the route of go before show...
i chose to go show before go... i have my reasons
jus cause a car is modded doesnt make it a ricer car...
if you say a modded car is rice?..then look at all teh sleepers... youre saying those are rice too...

Re: Rice or Sleeper? What would you do?

well the thing about autos that most people don't get is that the shifting really occurs down in the petals. A quick tap off the gas can have the car shift up gears at 3000-4000 RPM for example instead of redlining. I just think alot of people dis autos because most people just slam thier foot on the gas and wonder why the other car is "outshifting" them. Shifting down is a different issue, but that's why Tibs have Shiftronic, which when used right can be a real asset, but used wrong a real pain in the ass lol

Re: Rice or Sleeper? What would you do?

Going back to your original question.... I agree that sleepers do have their advantages on the street, however, I prefer to do a little of both for a few reasons. First off, if you pull up next to somebody looking completely stock they'd have to be a complete and total moron to think that there wasn't any serious engine mods done as soon as they hear your car... anything you do that is going to greatly increase your hp is going to make your car sound different. Second, I like having a nice looking car... not saying that the stock extrerior on the Tibby isn't nice... just saying I like to add my own little touches here and there such as the dreaded altezza (euro) lights, clear corners etc.... Last reason for exterior mods is this.... you're going to reach a point in your engine mods where exterior mods are going to help the way your car runs... for example, the huge metal wings don't do anything for you unless you're going over 120 mph but a functional hood scoop WILL keep fresh air going into the engine compartment and help keep your car running nice and cool. A good quality (and properly shaped) front air dam can lower the front end of your vehicle effectively at speeds as low as 60 mph. Lastly lowering your car about an inch will greatly increase handling in the turns.
