emissions dilemma

I've been researching lately into swapping a chevy 4.3l v6 into my suzuki samarai. The swap itself doesn't look so tough, but I'm a little reluctant because this car will still have to pass emissions every other year. I pulled out some old emissions tests done to other vehicles and it looks like emissions are rated on a percentage limit. example: CO must be under 1.1% and CO&CO2 must be under 6%. So percentage wise I know a the 4.3 liter will pass because its newer and OBDII, but on the other hand Im going from 1.3l to 4.3 so im thinking it depends on how their equipment measures pollutants. Can anybody shed some light on this please?????
